Well it just depends on a persons need and how old they are.   Both the 3800 and 365 are good dependable saws that are easy to work on.    But I would have taken the 365 because of weight and they respond well to modifying.
I have another 365 here that I need to put a piston and cylinder on.  One of these days.

Me too. But he is young guy = weight no problem. Plus he dont even know how to sharpen or touch up a chain.  I tried to give some pointers to him.

So I am thinking dull chain = leaning on more in cuts.

I know that the 3500 I have in my avatar will run circles around my 3800's that I have.   But the 3500 has had a few things done to it.

Digging up an old Poulan 3800 topic, test cut checking carb adjustment after rebuilding the carburetor on my 3800.

Sounds good to me.  I could hear it transition from 2-stroking to 4-stroking when you lifted cutting load.  Would have liked to hear a second or two of WOT unloaded running before hitting wood.  Helps 'calibrate' my ear when making judgements from a vid on my tablet.... 8)
