Poulan 4000 aftermarket
« on: January 11, 2020, 09:53:46 am »
Posted on chainsaw repair group on facebook. Saving pics here.   Trying to get 4000 piston pics now. Poulan 4000 cylinder

Not me seller on chainsaw repair group FB.  =

Look fellas, we're in the process of developing a copy of the widely regarded Poulan 4000 cylinder.  These are like a big bore kit for Poulan 3400, 3700, 3800, Craftsman 3.4 and 3.7 vintage classic chainsaws.  As well as the Poulan 4000.  These will take a 3400 from about 54cc up to 65cc.  These are true to for with a 1-15/16th bore.
We've already put together the top end gasket sets for them, developed a tool to help pull the wrist pins easily, and purchased the casting molds for the cylinder (Hence our insignia on the cylinder). Now comes time to test them out in the field.

We think they're going to be awesome!!

They are chrome plated, like the original but we've made some small changes.  We've adapted the hardware to metric sizes and each kit will come packed with the 4x muffler screws and 2x intake screws to help facilitate the modification.  We've also modified the intake and 2 longer exhaust screws to socket cap for simplicity of installation.

I need some real world feedback.  I have one test cylinder left to send out here.  Would someone be interested in trying this out and putting some hours on it?

We are still working to get the piston we're developing right so for now we will ship the cylinder with either a used OEM or Lil Red Barn piston.  I will also ship with a sample of our piston so you can see the quality, but they aren't suitable yet to run.

We're looking at having them ready for sale by the summer time if all goes well.

If you decide you want to check it out I really need to hear back from you on it in a reasonable time frame. Anyone interested in checking one out?

It's not me. Folks in line offering to test. You need your 4000 piston or aftermarket one to use. He said his not ready yet.

Wow that sounds pretty cool.    The cylinder looks like it was made very well.    If they do the pistons and rings with just as much care they could have a winner on their hands considering how many Poulan 3400,3700, and 4000's that are out there.

I have some 3400's myself laying around here that I done nothing with.
