Only 3 poulan 4000 ring rings left better get them NLA  https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-POULAN-PISTON-RING-530026003-NLA-OEM-FREE-SHIPPING-PN3/152764860168?epid=1701875952&hash=item23917ec708:g:m48AAOSw63FZ9kYr

Yep I had already got one.

I sold my 2 sets for $25 a set. So just under $30 for a set shipped for a NLA ring is good IMHO

Damn

For older saws:
Tune the H side so that it 4-strokes (burbles) at WOT unloaded and just cleans up when under load.
When you lift cutting load, the saw should immediately revert to 4-stroking.  Fine tune the transition point for the wood you're cutting.

Weird thing to me is the short hand guard deal on cover part with the chain brake.  Was this normal?

That's a heat shield.  It's installed on chainbrake equipped saws (and is included in the chainbrake refit kits).  It's installed in place of the large heat shield/hand guard that the non chainbrake saws have.  The forward edge of the top cover stops well short of covering the muffler body.  A lotta heat comes of that can, and it's close to the fingers.

This 3400-4000/PP375-395 series uses this heat shield, as does the 5200-8500 series when chainbrake equipped.  A while back I bought a chainbrake refit kit from my 8500 from Bryce Stott on eBay.  The heat shield is in the kit, and is shown on the kit's instruction sheet.
