The Beaird-Poulan 5200 was way ahead of its time when introduced in 1975. Then to a 5400 in 1981.
Finally becoming  the Poulan-Weedeater 8500 in 1984 with very few upgrades.
Not much happened in the 5 years as Electrolux Poulan Pro starting in 1988 with the 655 as their top pro model .

My 71 year old brother Dennis still has his 8500 with pipe and WB carb. He doesn't post on the internet but I might get some pics from him.

Kevin, I just talked to my brother Dennis he says he'll send me pics of his 8500. He "may" also join here and post a bit. He says he can sell you the 8500 seeing he knows who you are....

Was suppose to pick this full wrap poulan 5200 up. But looks like it was sold to another even after telling seller I will take it. No biggie.

Poulan 5200 gasket. Make your own gaskets.
