« on: September 24, 2018, 06:13:00 pm »
1 owner poulan 5400 I just got. Original owner said just been setting for at least 10 years and was bought back when they burned wood and had to cut up a big oak on the ole farm place.
I didnt even try to start it. Just pulled it over.  Not going to keep as not series of big poulans I run.

:D  you can tell been raining all day.

Cylinder is clean on ext side looking through plug hole. Going to throw a fuel line on it and see if she pops off.

Covers off now and clean like a homeowner firewood cutter saw would have for just big wood.

2 chains came with it and one on it was a poulan chain. Windsor tipped bar

This is wrong -1/4" fuel line installed. (CORRECTION Todd Loosli said:    It was 3/16 x 5/16 line I put on it)
Was glad to see spark on first pull. 2nd pull she popped.  Not bad for setting for 10 years.   8) :o

Now to see if the klotz kl200 cleans that running old mix tarnish off the piston.

Just ran it with 28" buried that came with it in dry ash log. I'm happy with it where she is.
I would have to work on the chain to make it cut the way I like. Cant really pull it down.  Came with a chain that was already sharpened.

Something I noticed. Like this ribbed handle grip way better then the foam one that was on the 8500.

I was wondering why it was 90dl. This explains it, poulan called it 27" 90dl.
Plus the poulan 720 chain that came with it.

Poulan 5400 85cc, Poulan 505 83cc. I never compared the 8500 when I had it on hand last year for size and weight. I just knew it was heavier then I like now days. So this time after getting 5400 ready to ship I did the same to the 505. Drained of fluids and aired off under covers etc. Both bar plates inner outer and clutch covers with both bar nuts for PHO weights.
.2 = 3.2ounces and .8 = 12.8ounces

Hope he gets it. Nice looking one at least.  Well maybe not the starter handle  :D

My older brother logged with a 5200, 5400.
Then before he got his Mac 101 hotsaw he built a 5400 with tuned exhaust.
He was really dedicated to Poulan as he had excellent dealer support. Last Poulan he ran before going to Stihl was a 8500.
Making a living with a saw since age 16.
