Poulan 8500 pro
« on: February 03, 2016, 07:58:25 pm »
I was browsing cl for a saw and it dawned on me. I remember looking at this saw as a kid on my fathers workbench and thinking how impressive it looks and how huge it is. I never got the chance to see it run, but my father used it during hurricane bob to cut down five trees. Now at this point in my life a groundskeeper and **** side work extraordinaire landscapes galore I have seen the saws and Stihl is my fave for the excellent engineering. So anyways this morning I was on Craigslist and I was like," hold on a sec the saw just sitting in the shed, the huge Poulan, I should get it" !!! I Called my dad and he was thrilled I wanted it so today I acquired the saw I always really wanted and today I replaced a fuel line and tomorrow I will attempt to fire it up!!! And I already have a huge tree I need to cut up with it. I'm syked!!!

That right there is a strong 85cc poulan and a collector saw at that.  Hold onto that one IMO.

Ok I have a question. On the saw it says 1/2 pt to one gallon which is 16:1, does it really need to be so rich?

I use a 100% synthetic oil and mix it 32 to 1.

That was for the old oils 16/1.  I run 32/1 but would have no troubles running my stuff at 40/1 either.  Just tune the carb to your mix.

Very nice! That's definitely a keeper. There are not that many around in that kind of condition.
