Poulan 9/16 srench bar nuts
« on: November 23, 2013, 02:50:11 pm »
Was trying to find some extra poulan 9/16 bar nuts with what seems like coarse threads today.   Anyone got a lead on them or part number?  I'm coming up with this  530015251   but want to make sure they are the right ones.

I always just used a 9/16" ratchet, never seen a swrench in the 9/16 or maybe I am just not paying attention.  530031146

You try flange nuts from the hardware?

Duh on me. Thanks for the idea.    Local Hockler has a great selection and I can usually match up anything in the past.  Totally slipped my mind.

Make sure you get the smooth faced flange nuts.  Most hardware store flange nuts are serrated.  They chew the hell out of a magnesium clutch cover.  The Poulan (and some medium sized Homelite) nuts are 5/16-18, with a 9/16" hex.  You'll probably find that most 5/16-18 flange nuts have a 1/2" hex.

As for a 9/16" scrench.......................Oregon still makes/sells them.  They're labeled as being suitable for Echo and Poulan.  19mmx14mm.  Part # 57-006.  They're also the ticket for large frame McCulloch chainsaws, as those also used 9/16" bar nuts (but fine thread 3/8).  Large frame McCullochs use 3/8-24 nuts with a 9/16" hex.

These would work fine on a Poulan...................but I think they have a 1/2" hex.  That combination (5/16-18 with a 1/2" hex) was used on many medium sized Homelites.

Very Cool.  Thanks for all the info.

I have a super heavy duty swrench that Al Smith made me for dolmar 166 bar nuts if anyone of you have a use for it.  I have a stock one now and dont need 2.  Thinking 17mm maybe?

I may have that one already.  :P :P :P   http://www.ebay.com/itm/Oregon-57-006-19-by-14-mm-Chain-Saw-Scrench-/321186288921?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ac831d519

Kevin, the flange nuts I bought for my 372's at the hardware above my house towards town were smooth. Couldn't tell them from Husqvarna.

I was able to take a sec and check the one I bought for the 166.  It was 17mm and 19mm.  So thanks for the link on the 14mm swrenches.

I change mine to 1/2....

I tried that, but the new husky bar nuts wouldnt go on the poulan bar stud threads.   ???   I didnt check the thread difference of the studs, but figured something was up with that.
I just said freak it and put the 9/16 back on.
