 :)thats good info cut!
now how about a comparison pic of the boot opening between the smaller and bigger saws ;)
not many of the bigger saws around here, mostly the 2700-3100's. and i never thought to look when i did have a 330 here last summer. i'm sure the opening could be made bigger with a grinder 8)
i know on the 2800's the metal flange is really a bottle neck and you do notice a pretty good difference opening it up to match the boot and stock carb. you just need to use one of them brass rings from a stihl to keep the boot from collapsing. of course, i have no idea what stihl the ring is from as i had it here and no idea where it actualy came from :-* it's on my uncles 2800. muff mod, gasket delete and the plate ground open. no porting, the little saw really puts a good whooping on my muffler moded 5105 :)

You mean intake side of cylinders opening?  I have a 335 and 3450 60cc off right now I can do that with.

I know farmboy said he had to open the opening in rear handle on 3000 3300 305 or something once to use bigger intake.

Otherwise intakes same same to me on cylinder. Even test fitted each too.

Found his post.

Just put PP330,3450,3750 intake boot on my 3500.  The intake spigot/snout on the 2800-3500 is the same size as the PP330.  Boot is perfect fit.  Also changed the HDA49 to a HDA164.  Didnt have a intake bracket for larger carb. so I ground out the smaller one to fit the 164.  It's now snoutless.  I don't think it will be a problem as there is plenty of sealing surface.  Next Jacks order I'll probably get a couple intake brackets PN: 530049465 for larger carbs.

:)thanks cut! is a trick of the pic, or does the 'bigger' boot have a slightly larger intake opening at the cylinder end?

That is great information and good comparison pictures.    That does away with any questions I may have had.
