The log splitter was sold by Poulan back in late 70s, early 80s. They offered 3 sizes, plus a unit with only the cylinder & beam that you adapted to your own hydraulic system. It was not made by MTD or Speeco (sp?). I forget the supplier, but if I heard the name I would remember it. I do remember that the manufacturer was a well respected log splitter manufacturer of the time.
As for the Poulan branded MTD mower; Poulan has never put their name on an MTD product nor would they ever. MTD is a direct competitor to Husqvarna (includes Poulan and AYP - American Yard Products). The Poulan branded mower was made by AYP in Orangeburg, SC.
