Poulan Micro Oiling
« on: November 11, 2016, 10:45:18 am »
Hey all, I picked up a few 2.0/2000 top handles recently; two Dayton branded, one older red craftsman and a newer grey craftsman.  Two of the saws run great and oil properly, two wont draw fuel into the carb and stay running (carb kits on the way, they run great when I swap the carbs from the other ones on to test) and two wont oil.  I replaced the line inside the tank on one but it still doesn't oil...I recall seeing that these oilers were run off crankcase pressure?  Any thoughts on what to check, an explanation on how it works would be helpful as well.

Also...two had **** fuel tanks.  One was repairable, the other is garbage.  Anyone got one laying around they don't need?

Thanks!

The duckbill valve in the check valve PN 530069142 often go bad. The valve assemblies are getting hard to find. They work by taking the positive pulse (piston down stroke) from the crankcase and feeding that to a port on the oil tank causing it to pressurize the tank. If the duckbill valve is shot, the negative pulse from the crankcase allows the pressure to be drawn back. So, no pressure to the oil tank.

There are some check valves on e-bay now.

If you care to rebuild the valve yourself I did this little write up.

Ah, I do recall seeing that check valve thread- thanks!  How easy is that assembly to get to?

How critical is the foam around the pick up?

Small open cell foam acts as a filter. I never ran one without.  Seems something you could make from that style foam?
