You can add another port on the RH side to the front cover of the muffler and turn the diffuser around so the exhaust gas exits before the baffle plate.

If you do turn the diffuser around, drill a few more holes in the now front of the diffuser for the front port you add.

To add to what Tim already said.

I put baffle back in right way but drill out both up and down sides full of holes.  Used to leave baffle out but easy to over tighten without it and crush outer cover in. So I drill out and leave in now.

The outer gill is a good one and no cost. I started trying a new one in front aiming to right.   Thread on muffler mod I just tried and why I switched from side gill.  http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/poulan/poulan-muffler-mod/

Different poulan mufflers but same can be done on that series too.
