I have not modded the muffler on my 330 yet but on my other saws like the 365 and 3750 I would take the baffle and cut about 2/3rds of it away with a hand held cut wheel.   Then just add another slit and open it up for an exit port like cut4fun showed.

Thanks for the info guys but I am very frustrated with this series saw. I think its time for it to find a new owner. First I received it with a burned up clutch cover now that issue is resolved the chain tension screw fell out the front cause the retainer was broke. While they are both cheap parts they are all on back order and cost more to ship then there value. It seems like a okay saw but I'm thinking of staying with my older more reliable 3400-4000 series saws.

Well they are widely recognized as a good saw with the poulan guys so you should have no problem getting rid of it.  Maybe you could find someone to trade with you for one of the earlier poulans like you prefer.

If I had a 3400 I would trade you in a heart beat. But I dont.

I prefer the 330 series myself.

Well I did a redneck repair today for 27¢ 10/24x 2" screw and a e clip as a retainer. I'm going to give it another chance plus I have a new 20" bar and chain that was delivered today I am not to impressed with the vanguard chain on the 22". Plus I think I'm buried in this saw with the new bar and chain and the new chain brake I'm already $ 160 into it.

Yep that is a keeper unless you come across a trade.

This saw must be cursed every time I go to use it there is another problem. Today the bronze vent fell out so now back apart comes the saw and the top cover melted on me it there suppose to be any reflective materiel underneath this was what the plug looked like so it wasn't running lean.

I do not have an answer for the bronze vent but if you melted the top cover, it is because you have an exhaust leak.   You need to double check the muffler and make sure you have it back together right.

That would explain it the one bolt came loose. No big deal though I might try the husqvarna vent idea.
