Not many saws are as simple to work on as the 3400. When in a bind, I've used the IPL to figure how things go back together. MOst of the time, however, most saws assemble the same way. For insurance I will at times take pictures before disassembly.

Looks like a bunch of the guys are spending time here, while the other site gets fixed.  I do like how this Site is setup .   Yup, IPL's come in handy as many Service Manuals don't show all the parts and the order of assembly.

Well I dug out my 330 today and want to get it ready for cutting some fire wood.   I have not done anything with it yet and so I just wanted to give a good check out.   I do have some test wood here at the house and ran it in some of that.
I must say I am impressed with this saw.   I am running .325, 20" bar and a 8 pin rim on the clutch.   This is a nice high revving engine and seems to hold its torque pretty good while cutting.   When I get it out and cut some fire wood I will see how it measures up then.   The only that has been done to the saw is that it has been muffler modded.

What is that left side deflector made from?  Reminds me of a tiller one cut in half or something.

It was already on there when I got the saw.    All I did was to open up the baffle some more and the outlet for that deflector some more.

One of the things I did to this 330 was to pull the clutch off of the saw and even it up on a my disc grinder.   It will hold a perfect 90 degree angle and I use it also for dressing up my bars.    I have done this now on quite a few saws that I have because I noticed how the wear patterns become very irregular on the clutch.   So I like to get them back flat again so that there is more surface contact with the drum.

This 330 is driving me insane again I purchased it and had to but a new chain brake cover on it.I also put a new 20" bar and chain 3/8 on it and it runs great except for sometimes it stays revving the saw has 160 psi of compression. Has new fuel lines and impulse but now it won't oil what do you think could have caused the oiler to stop. I have took of the bar and cleaned behind it drained the oil tank and swished some clean gas around in there to clean it and the oil pick up filter is clean and the small plastic tube is intact this is a low hour saw could the worm gear be bad.
