I guess "each to his own" I don't care for huge spikes. But sometimes small ones save the saw?

Some saws (372's) even have a smooth rub bar available that fits on where the spike goes. It just keeps the muffler and the oil tank back from the wood a little bit.

My Stihl 025's/MS250 have little spikes on them but the muffler still sets the bark on fire if you bury the bar up against the spike.

We should share what we know... someone may learn...
