I drilled out the hole in tank a 15/64 and installed a different brass tank vent after pulling a 3300 apart to look at it and how OEM was.

I'll snap pics tomorrow.

OEM 330 parts for tank vent.

Sold one of the local firewood cutters a like new 330 with 20" 325  7T set up.

Let him test 2 330's like new, one with 325 7T and one with 3/8 7T and he liked the 325 set up and smaller 325 7 gear for being more forgiving when bar was buried.

Can not go wrong with a 330, it doesn't matter if it runs 3/8 or .325 they are fine saws.  Interesting though that he liked the .325 better.  I have heard some say it is smoother in the cut.

Not because of 325 was smoother. Because the 7T 325 allowed more torque in the cut with 20" buried on the 330.

The 330 with 3/8 7T bigger rim size with 20" buried in hardwoods would pull down easier in the cut with full bar buried.

I like a 330 with 3/8 and only a 16" bar.  No torque monsters thats for sure.

I agree they are not torque monsters but for a firewood saw they are not a bad way togo, and you are right a 20" bar buried in hardwoods would take some umph to get through.  I have a 330 and like you run a shorter bar on it.

I like everything about them. Nice built saw for the money and parts are pretty much dirt cheap IMO.

I always thought they were the firewood or homeowner best bang for their buck saw when available new.

I think I'm going to start using the husky tank vent set up when I run out of the brass vents on the poulans.

Here is some info from mweba Mitch on a 3450.

 Poulan Pro 3450 tank vent

I purchased this 3450 better than a month ago from a pawn shop. Rubber isolators were shot so I ordered new and installed them. Carb cleaned and new fuel line/filter and she was up and running good. The first time I got a chance to use it, filled the tank and fuel ran out on the left hand side. There it sat til tonight. Pulled the rear handle off and the tank vent was missing. Checked the poulan site and the parts are still available but I stock the Husky tube style vent that is in the 55 and others. Some will think the following info is worthless due to oe parts being available but this conversion is an option. Besides who knows how long the oe part will be available.
    Husky number 501 8731-01

The original vent hole is approx 3/4" deep so you have some room to work.
First drill a 1/4" hole through the original vent "bucket". Due to the size of the collar on the Husky tube, the outer diameter will have to be countersunk so the tube sits flush with the exterior of the tank. Bit size is 11/32.  Tube will fit tight and if countersunk correctly, will sit flush.

Finished product. No more leaks.

Pic links went bad sorry..............................
