From my readings so far it seems that 380  come with 137.  Havent read where a 164  came on one?

I wish I would have kept closer attention to the carb deal as alot of this series 330 3450 3750 have passed through my hands.

It might depend on what year they were made as to what carb came on them.    I have a bunch of these saws and will have to take a look at them.    I know the 3750 that I welded up that you had at one time Kevin had a 164 on it when I got it.   I had a NOS 137 and put it on there when I finished putting it back together.

I have been making some progress on my 3500 which uses a HDA 49 and will post some pics when done.

Post your 137 info in the 164 137 carb thread. Trying to see if there is anything to the Japan and Mexico made ones.

Don't want to start a new thread but how do you remove the worm gear and flywheel on this series saw. I tried a gear puller on the fly wheel and just chipped it. Thanks in advance.

The worm gear requires a puller that threads on to the worm gear itself and then pulled off.   There is a part number for it but do not know where it is right now.

The way I remove the flywheel..    Take the nut and washer off.   Put the nut back on until it is flush with the end of the crank.
I then took a bolt the size of the nut and cut it off so that it was short enouph to sit on top of the nut and the end of the crank shaft.   I use that to hammer on so I do not mess up the threads of the crank.
I then put a screw driver under the flywheel and apply a little pressure and start tapping the end of the crank with just a medium blow from a hammer.   You may have to put the cut off bolt back into place, because  it will fall off but take your time and the flywheel will all of a sudden brake loose.   You will know because the screw driver will move.

Hey I was just curious  Kevin do you remove the fly wheel in a similar fashion or do you have a different method.

I am thinking these poulans I just knock the end of very center of crank and they pop off.  Some super stuck ones I had to soak both sides at crank with PB blaster penetrant. Let set over night if didnt work on next try. Most came off then.

I have done your way too in past.

Great so another dilemma on this series saw special tools. All I want to do is replace the seals as preventive maintenance but that's not going to happen now.

Lot of guys make a worm gear puller out of some kind of pipe with inner threads.  But for $4 on a order I got the tool.

Some heat them up and can pry off by both sides. Not me. Some cut them off and then need to buy new gear. So that $4 spent looks real good. ;)
