Issue sorted with AS,  cookie problem.

Wish I could say the same for the newest 330, seems I have a problem child.
Put another 164 carb from a parts saw (330 type 3 that I took the 60cc p&c from), put it on this new one, same idle/run on issue.  Acts like an intermittent air leak. Impulse line was not put on securely enough for my liking and made the intake boot was snug; no difference.  Behaves until it gets some heat in the saw... I think.
I'll do a complete teardown once I get back from the Nate savaged gulf coast fishing trip.

Don't know if Sharkys carb vids will help, no welch plug on the 164.   I guess I could take a carb from my FINE running "SUPER 330's" and see if it makes a difference before teardown.

Any thoughts? ;D

Have you checked crank seals?  Have had them once warmed up it shows up the leak at crank seals.  Redneck check. Get it good warm from running let idle and turn to side then turn to other side. See what happens.

Seem to have sorted the issue with the newest 330.  Stripped it down to put the mildly ported cylinder on and didn't really see any glaring problems other than the intake boot wasn't installed right from the factory, (pinched, not in groove on cylinder).  Filled the crankcase with toluene to soften the crank seals and let it soak for a bit, blew dry and gave a bit of PB blaster to the outside of said seals.  Reassembled sans base gasket and a little permatex no.2 with a different intake boot.  Port matched the muff to the cylinder and away we go.

Bucking spike was shortened as earlier series previously.

Burned off the extra oil from assembly and adjusted carb enough to get into some wood.  Seemed to still exhibit some hunting at idle until I made several cuts to get to operating temp so carb could be adj. properly.

Cutting strong with a 20' .325 7-pin semi chis setup,...holds RPM well in dry oak with bar buried.  Comes back to idle good and will sit and idle like it should.

Still need to advance timing a bit. On these saws I oval the mounting holes to adj. as there is room for movement.  Tempted to add a shark gill vent to muff opposite bar side exit.

Thinking I may still go back to the .325 NK 18" 8-pin set up that I ran before.

Pretty tickled with my $30 purchase ;)

Got a good laugh to myself today.  ;)   Poulan saves the day and guys stihl fails to run right.

Got a call. Hey you doing anything right now we need yur help.   Friends pastors house lost a Bradford pear in the tornado and needed it brought down and limbed out, Then main trunk bucked up.  Maybe 17" - 18"

Guy had just had his stihl serviced and sharpened too.  :-X
May have just earned me a new customer  :P.  After he takes it back to them in his frustration state he was in.  :-X

Anyhow I loaded up the 3450 54cc with 16", 60cc and 71cc with 16" for back ups.  The 54cc did the whole job and was like cutting hot butter.  Dang I got that ash test chain cutting.  8)

Even more impressive when you tell some farmboss owner that the poulan is only 53.18 cc.

How did you come up with your cc number?  I come up with 54.343cc

I did the math. You used 46mm bore x 32mm stroke. They are 46.5mm bore x 32mm stroke. JFI
