I like free and easy to fix 8)

fuel line, filter and impulse line is all it needed. the carb was spotless and the rubber bits were like new. the tank vent was perfect. the top end is like brand new. it's a pretty low hour saw. and will clean up really nice other than the clutch cover sticker--which I have from a poulan parts haul I picked up a couple years ago. guy traded it in at potters small engine buying an echo cs500 :) I likes trade in's. runs very well after a half hours work.
time for a muffler mod! ;)

Very nice.    The 335's are some of my favorites.    I also like the chain brake.    Nice find on the saw.

well I guess she isn't as perfect as I thought :D took it out last night when chris showed up to pick his little poulan up to show him how it ran. started up nicely and ran great, but after a couple minutes it started burning a bit of bar oil. i'm sure it's the oiler gasket. i'll open it up sometime this week to fix that. heck. even if it's the sealant between the cases it's an easy job to fix. but I don't think that's what it is. no airleak. no biggie 8)

If it's sucking bar oil then the PTO side crank seal needs replacing.  The oil pump sits over that seal.  Same thing happens with the big CounterVibe saws (4200-8500).  My 4900 was a smokey bugger until I replaced the PTO side seal.  Even after that it took a good 10 minutes of running to burn off the residual oil in the crankcase.

One of my 3750 sucked bar oil through the crankcase halves right from the bar oil tank.  The OEM gasket sealer had given up in one small area.

That's a weird one.

eccentric: it would never be the crank seal that causes these to burn bar oil. the oiler pump gasket would be the first area to look at on these. if the leak isn't in that area, it's the sealant between the case halves. if the crank seal was leaking, it would just cause an airleak on these as the seal sits in the pump itself on the outer lip.
anyway I got lucky on this one. just the oiler gasket needed replacing :) a screw loosened off enough for it to leak. changed out the gasket and she's good again.
also did a mild muffler mod. :)

Ah............the backside of the oil pump is dry (no bar oil) and is open to the crankcase on these and the crank seal's in the pump body.  That means a leaking oil pump gasket could also cause an air leak (like a leaking oil pump o-ring on many Husqvarnas).

That's different a different arrangement than what's on the 4200-8500 CVA family.  On those, the crank seal is in the crankcase under the oil pump, and the backside of the oil pump is wet (always has bar oil).  Nevermind.  Dammit..........shouldn't have made an assumption since I haven't pulled the oil pump off one of these newer Poulans yet...
