In all reality that's still a good value.  Were used to getting them for 75.00 bucks. Our raving about the quality just drove the price up....

It is still a lot cheaper than a Stihl 036.

And a whole lot cheaper than an 038 Magnum!

Isnt the 038 Mag like 72cc or something?  Big difference IMO. Seen them listed on CL for $200 up to $400.

IIRC 52mm bore and 34/36mm stroke, you are correct 70+cc. VERY nice saw!

A Stihl 036 is 60cc more comparable to the Poulan 380.    For a nice Stihl on ebay your going to pay 300 to 350 plus shipping.   That Poulan 380 will cut just as good.

I'd take a pp 380 or alike over a stihl 038 any day.

The 62cc  036 pro I rebuilt impressed me big time (thinking I got $300 out of it local).  Like 036 way over the 262xp I had too.

I have 2 pretty nice 036's and I really am not that impressed with them.   It could be that I am used to running my  Tim Allen 3750's or my 3700 that I improved a little.

Did you remove the cage inside back half muffler or at least drill it out in your 036's? Then open the side exhaust outlet to fit the deflector?

I wished I had owned all 3 at the same time but the 036 came in after I sold the other 2.

One of the 036's is bone stock and the other one, I have done some muffler mods to.   I did notice some good improvement with the MM.  I probably need to do some woods porting to them to get what I am used to.  It is what I have done to my other 60cc saws.
