Poulan s-25
« on: July 19, 2011, 03:21:06 pm »
Before Stihl came out with the 020 and it's forms later to be the 020T and Ms 200T this little saw was "the " climbing saw .

2.3 cubic inchs ,plenty of power and built tough as leather .I had my original out today just to blow the cobwebs out and even after all these years that thing still amazes me .Starts on 4 or 5 after sitting for 6 months, always .Not the zip of a 200T but not bad at all for over 30 years old .

These things now of days are a 25-30 dollar saw because not too many people ever even heard of them .

I have no time behind the older poulan top handles. But I had bought a poulan 2000 new for $99 - $129 (cant remember)  in  94 or 95. Saw is still in service with my dad on the land down south.  So far only needed a coil and fuel lines.

Since then I have ran the XXV and the little brother 1800 30cc and they are all good cheap limbers IMHO.

Now one thing I have noticed since getting spoiled with other top handles. Dang those things vibrates the heck out of my hands compared to the ones with the nice anti vibe now days.

Now I found a top handle poulan 2000 that was made to be a rear handle trim saw like the 200 is, poulan 2100 33cc. Now that thing is smooth with it's coil spring AV and light like the top handles.

Yep they shake rattle and roll .This is why the handles are taped up on the orange one .It wasn't so much they'd make the hands tingle .More so because I never wore gloves it would raise a blister .

Poulan 20 XX   I didnt really care for the design of XX. Running wires from the flywheel side over the cylinder to clutch side points.

Poulan XX is one in front Poulan 2000 one in rear.

I sent this XXV to a poulan collector. Anyone know what was so special about the XXV Micro Deluxe?

They're just a trim the apple tree in the back yard type of saw .Poulans answer to a Mini Mac or Homelite XL-2 .In that case the Poulan would be the better choice . Nothing special other than the fact that one seems to be in excellant shape .

The original Micro came with a 10" bar and the Deluxe model came next and it sported a 12" bar.

Thats good to know. I made sure I sent one of these 10" and 12" hognose bars I had to the guy I traded 2 saws to. I  also sent a 12" hognose to blsnelling for a little poulan restore he was doing.
