Poulan S25 Piston
« on: December 03, 2013, 08:23:54 pm »
Has anyone ever heard of a S25 cylinder with a 1.560" bore? Sometime in the past I got a NOS "2.3" piston/cylinder/ rings and set it aside. I am restoring a Craftsman 2.3 PS (25 not Micro) with a destroyed engine, so I decided to use piston from kit and purchase a 2.3 cylinder that accepted points. When I tried to assemble cylinder, I found that the piston was too large for cylinder. For reference: 25 models had a 2.1 ci version (1.437" bore) and 2.3 ci version (1.500" bore). They never offered a larger displacement in this series of saws. This would have made a 2.5 ci engine.

Yes the 2300 has a 1.531 bore. The 2300 is a Micro series saw which is a clamshell design with lots of plastic and a slip-over connecting rod.
I am talking about the Poulan S25 series which is a older diecast design with a 2-piece connecting rod.

I can't be of any help .Of all the work I've done on s-25's I've never had a cylinder off to find out .Fact I've never seen one that got cooked .It's usually a funky carb, bad fuel line or the oiler doesn't work .< rare

I have a couple of S25DA's but have not taken them apart.  One is in good shape and the other scored piston and cylinder.  I remember trying to find a new piston and ring for it at one time but never did.   One of these days I will have to take it apart and mic it out.
