Poulan S25DA super 25

Had a guy drop 5 poulans off today. The 2 poulan 25 he just wants me to get 1 going from the 2.

Really like the xxv chainsaw case in lime green  ;D  that 1 was in. Noticed a 1/4" chain and 1/8" oregon file guide in there too for one with no b+c on it.

So the super 25 is 38cc and non is 34cc?  So these would be 38cc correct?

Got one running already and has some red translucent fuel line that is still very pliable.   8)

I think they might have made 3 sizes .If I'm correct it's like 2.1 cu in ,2.3 which is the most common and one other one .

About the only thing that ever goes wrong with them might be the later solid state ignitions .Seems the points type run forever .

The 1/4" chain would have come from an early model and I think I bought my original in around 1974-75 with a 1/4" on it .It is 2.3 cu in .

Actually as I've said before these were the premeer trimmers saws in the day but as many were sold for firewooders as were sold to tree trimmers .I know I cut many a cord of firewood with mine and it still runs as good today as it did brand new .Even climbed a few trees and used it aloft .

I'd about bet if they have fire that a carb rebuild plus a rope on the one would get both of them back on the payroll .Baileys had bars for these things pretty cheap at one time .

I got 1 running before leaving for football game tonight.

Never seen a 9 spline 3/8 7T rim sprocket before.  The one with bar has this set up.

Got to make some cuts with the super 25 today and really like the extra torque of these little saws compared to my 33cc 2000. Very impressed.

Also the super and deluxe super are both 38cc from what I have been told by the poulan gurus.

Those fuel caps originally had a "duck bill " type of check valve built into them .Over the years it wears out and if they are completely full of gas they spit .Unfortunately the caps are hard to find so in my case I just don't fill it as full .

There's probabley another cap that fits it but so far I haven't been able to find which one .

The saw itself is a torquey little rascal for no bigger than it is .I have no idea what the guys did to a few that showed up at Gregs GTG last fall but those little buggers would really scoot .

Poulan made them for just about anybody to sell and more often than not below the price of one that actually  said Poulan on it .Sears sold them, and others .My original was marketed by Dayton who makes electric motors .139.95  when a Poulan was 169 .Poulan really didn't care beause they made money no matter what color it was painted .

Well quite frankly no matter what color it is chances are it will run good .

I get a great amusement out  of the people who poo poo the little things who first have never seen one and certainly have never operated one .In my opinion it's  one the most under rated small saws of all times .
