There were a few different part numbers for cylinders on that series. Two main things to look for on your saw and the cylinder donor:

1)Bore diameter (as there were 34cc and 38cc versions). You can swap a 34cc p/c set onto a 38cc crankcase (and vice/versa) so long as you don't run into trouble with #2 below.

2)Whether it has points or an electronic ignition. The two ignitions have different mounting provisions on the jugs. They're not compatible.

You can put an electronic ignition jug on a points saw if you also swap the ignition with it. Don't know if the flywheels have to be swapped too (they are different #'s, so I'd keep the matching FW with the ignition if possible). Can't remember offhand if the electronic ignition saws have the points cam omitted on them. Without the points cam, you of course couldn't put a points jug/ignition on an electronic ignition saw without also swapping in a points crank (that's IF the points cam is omitted on the E/E cranks). The electronic ignition saws do have a different crank part # than the points saws.

IIRC, all of the 2.1ci/34cc versions had points. There are two different electronic ignition 2.3ci/38cc cylinders. I have examples of both cylinders in my saw boneyard............just haven't gotten around to comparing to see what if anything is different between them. Interestingly, the piston and rings also have different #'s for the late electronic ignition saws. I need to look at those too. Also should look at the electronic ignition saw cranks to see if they still have a points cam. They probably don't....

Cylinder part #'s.

-530011236 replaced by 530011244 2.1ci/34cc saws. 1.438" bore. All had points.

-530011245 2.3ci/38cc saws with points. 1.5" bore.

-530012072 Earlier 2.3ci/38cc saws with electronic ignition. S25. S25DA. S25-CVA.

-530012664 Late 2.3ci/38cc saws with electronic ignition. Late S25DA and S25AV.

Per stuart80112 = Piston Ring Sizes for Poulan Saws (34cc versus 38cc) 25DA versus S25, S25AV, S25CVA, S25DA

Per hotshot -   S25DA rings are marked with the wrong part number. He's got the keeper type (angled) & butt ended rings part numbers reversed

I recently became confused trying to figure out which piston rings to buy for a Wright 122 saw.

The problem comes from the fact that there are TWO different cylinder sizes 34cc and 38cc.
At first glance, the model names look very similar - they have "Poulan" and "25" in them - that's the confusing part.

I ended buying BOTH sizes. If you make that mistake on cylinders or pistons.. it becomes expensive very quickly.

To save the next person a lot of searching and thrashing, these are the results.
I have also attached a picture showing the rings side by side.

It is important to realize that 25DA and S25DA are different sizes!! Easy for a newbie to miss!!

FWIW, I picked up a set of 1.5" rings from Otto Engine Works.  They are for a Maytag washer but are an exact match for OEM.  Randy (hotshot) put me on to them.
