I think that's just a puff of bark and such at the end of the cut.  Looking at the end of the wood, I see a similar brown just under the bark.  The dirt that's visible near the log looks much more grey.  Funny that he calls the Poulan a 440.  It's actually a 4400.

The 655 seems to do a good job.

The 655 should do a good job they have enough power.    I would have liked to have seen the Husky 2100 run and see how it measured up to that 655.    The 4400 is not nearly as big in CC as the 655 but still did ok.     I do not own any bow saws personally but would like to try one just to see what they are like.   Any ways good video.

In my experience, a 2100 is stronger than the 655 in bigger wood, but not as fast in 30" and smaller stuff (stock).  The 655 is also noticeably lighter and more 'handy', despite only being 1 cc 'smaller' than the big Husky.  To me, a 655 'feels' like a 5-cube/80cc class saw (but with BIG power), while the big Husky 'feels' like a 6-cube + saw.

Both of them will laugh at a bow bar cutting wood of that size.  If I was setting one of those beasts up with a bow, I'd run a .404-7 rim and semi-chisel .404 such as Oregon 27X.  They'll still pull a 14" bow wearing that chain, and it'll stay sharp MUCH longer doing bow duty.

The Bow saw is great for bucking a trunk but My Mac Super 250 bow saw was more awkward felling a tree. It was difficult to raise up to cut limbs above waist high.

Yeah bow saws are not really suited for that work, even though many folks have done such work with them.  Much better to have two saws if falling and bucking (if one of them is a bow saw).

Anyone have a Poulan Pro bow I could bolt up to one of my 655's? I have only had one and sent it away with a PP 405 a number of years ago. I have an extra clutch cover I could modify.
