PP 655 Oiler
« on: October 17, 2013, 08:53:41 pm »
Good evening gents.  A few of you may have been at the Poulan Lover's GTG last Saturday.  I know you were Kevin.  I have a clean 655 that I've been having trouble getting to oil.  First of all, the manual oiler did not work, even when removed from the saw and isolated from the auto oiler.  I tried blocking the manual oiler ports, and still no love.  I was able to pick up a NOS manual oiler this week.  Not only does the manual oiler now work, but the auto oiler does as well.  I'm told that there's probably a check valve in it that was bad.  The auto oiler will now sling a healthy line of oil, leaving the chain soaked in oil.  Hopefully this might help someone else get their 655 oiling again like it should.

I don't believe it's serviceable.  It's a sealed unit.

There is a check valve in the pump. It's shown in the P series shop manual. It's located behind the manual oiler nipple on the pump. It's likely not removable but it may be just clogged with dirt and a flushing out might get it going again.
I have both the Pioneer P series for the P41 and up shop manual as well as the Poulan Pioneer (405-655) shop manual if anyone needs copies. They compliment each other.
