PP5020AV
« on: November 29, 2013, 03:55:09 pm »
Hello to all! this is my first post and I'm having a bar oiling issue with my new 5020 after changing to a G70 chain and a good cleaning. I immediately noticed after rechecking chain tension that there was very little oiling to the bar and chain,so disassemble that area right down to the oil pump and all is functioning accordingly except the overly excessive oil before switching chain and cleaning. Do any of you Poulan experts have  a clue as to why my saw is having oil issues?

I had a chainsaw do this so I took the bar and chain off and cleaned the bar groove and oil holes out real well. I checked the saw's oiling function with the bar off and no oil was coming out the little slot above the bar bolts. I then checked for oil in the tank and there wasn't any bar oil in the tank either.  . . .

In the winter like this, you sometimes need to try a bar oil tank of kerosene to get it going?

As 660 said run a little kersoence through it.  In winter we usually thin the bar oil w/kerosene about 1 cup to gal usually does it for us.

NO! gasoline in the bar oil tank. Not even a little mixed with bar oil or with kerosene or #2 diesel.

Thanks for the tips on thinning. Actually this oiling issue developed  a few weeks back with warmer tempts, the plastic casing could be warped cause sometimes the area of the clutch is just saturated with oil,no signs cracks though. Gonna do some flat filing of the oil tube channel, thin the oil and last resort increase pump volume a bit.  I've double and triple checked  the oil passages  and venting.   Thanks for your suggestions!

Every part in a 5020 has the Husqvarna trademark on it.

Yes it does ;) and I've slightly mod mine, with more mods coming and I absolutely can't stop grinning when I cutting with it. Most underrated home owner saw on the market IMO. Husqvarna should at least invest a few more dollars  in upgrading the bar oiling system to adjustable over the full auto.
