Project orange poulan
« on: October 18, 2013, 10:17:17 am »
This is going to be a slow project.    :-\

Since these were made in the husky plant and were yellow and red only  :'(.  First I thought I would like a lime green one and while on that project I thought it would be cool to have a husqvarna orange one done up.

Crankcase is split already and crank checked out good. The other split crankcase I have, the crank is no good and case had some erosion in bottom crankcase area  where water had stood in the past. Think it could be cleaned up and used if needed be.

Thinking a poulan 415 425, 445 475 505 parts, using 65cc to 83cc top with orange crankcase, recoil and clutch covers.  Black tank and cylinder cover.

This oughta be good.

Useless trivia:

Sears/Craftsman sold a Roper made 3.7 that they called a 'Sportsman' or something similar.  They also sold a 25DA variant that they called 'Explorer'...

Just so you know.   Car, truck and SUV break downs keeping me busy. Trying to get all done before snow flies.
No time to look at a project right now.

Plus right now for some reason I just dont feel like doing anything on a builder chainsaw.  Weird huh.   ???   Just not into it.  :-\

Snow is already flying here.    I would like to get out and do some more on my 3750 but cannot be grinding on things in the house.

Just take your time you might get into it later.

Still picking up parts for this, some of the parts in pic above was used on the green jeans 505.  Picked up the NOS 475 air filter cover and another side brace between handle and tank.
Need to lay it all out to see where I stand. Thinking I am going to be short a oiler and plastic oiler worm gear.

Will trade that NOS 475 af cover for the other style af cover on 415 425 445 505. Otherwise I will just carve on this one to use the air filter I like.

I have one of those 3.7 Roper's.  Never heard it run.

They basically run like a Homelite Super XL Automatic (SXL-AO).  Lotsa torque.  Not a whole lotta revs.  They run a 3/8" pitch 20" b/c very well.

Finally took a parts count and think I am real close to having enough to make my project harley chainsaw.  Going to be a orange crankcase, clutch and recoil covers with black tank, af and cyl covers. Just because they were made in the husky plant and didnt put out a orange one.   :P
