I decided I really really like the quad ports top ends better then the 475 77cc  505 82.5cc top ends.  So either 415 425 65cc or 445 70.7cc

This oughta be good.

Useless trivia:

Sears/Craftsman sold a Roper made 3.7 that they called a 'Sportsman' or something similar.  They also sold a 25DA variant that they called 'Explorer'...
My dad had a couple of those 3.7's .The old boy couldn't keep his fingers off them ,added too much soup and snapped a couple of crankshafts .The last one he ever did is in Louisville at my brothers.

I have a nice one (later AV model) and a parts saw.  Just waiting on the usual fuel system rehab.  I'll get to it eventually.  I'd like to see what one of these would run like after being 'souped' up.  Hmmm.......

Those 3.7 Roper/Craftsman had a lot of torque for 60 ccs'.They wouldn't out gun a Mac PM 610 but they weren't far behind .

You gotta remember the time period ,Mac 10-10s' Homelite XL-12s' etc .The Sears Ropers or the Mac 610's would walk away from them .Husqvarna was unheard of and Stihl hadn't gained a foot hold yet  plus they cost about twice as much.

Probabley the hottest thing going was the Lombard Comango/Al-42 but there weren't that many dealers .

The subject Poulan sold units at various places painted every color of the rainbow .I never ever saw an actual Poulan dealership in these parts .

When I had the parts laid out I had 2 oilers. 1 I know just barely puts oil out. The other come off the parts 505 with bad crank and top. Freaking thing is not budging.  Trying penetrating oil to see if I can get it broke loose. The gear dont even show wear, so here''s to hoping I can make it good.

Wish I could find the  X2 like I used on the lime green one in husky orange.  So far notta. May have to use the TSC Husqvarna orange in can or Kubota orange.

Maybe maybe not.  :-\

So does that mean the PB blaster worked?

Also I like that lighter orange the top one better than the other which looks a little more red to me.

Yes the PB worked on the oiler.

Going to look at the X2 oranges and buy and test spray first.
I know the husky orange at TSC and kubota orange is a good orange.
