Small poulan fuel line
« on: April 27, 2014, 02:25:49 pm »
Running into something. The small line on the poulan fuel line like on the PP 260. What is the size?   :-\

I measured the one that came out of it at 1/8 outer and  3/32 inner.
I have line that is to small outer and inner and line that is right inner but way to big for outer to work through the tiny hole for the small line.  :-X

Looking to order I cant find such outer inner.  Could it be 1/16" inner diameter X 1/8" outer diameter  http://www.hlsproparts.com/Tygon-fuel-line-clear-yellow-1-16-ID-X-1-8-OD-p/t115315.htm

I think that's it.  I have a buddy that has done lines on a ton of those saws.  He has a roll of line that he uses for them.  I'll have to ask him the size...

Edit:

I think I remember him saying he drills out the hole for the small line so he can use 3/32x3/16" line.

Thats what I would do too.

Here is what is going on.  I wonder now if they drilled the smaller hole on his and then used wrong size fuel lines.

I think you're right.  My Poulan 4000 came to me with the fuel line hole drilled for larger line.  Discovered that when trying to use the usual 3/32"x3/16" line on it.  I have a spare tank that I'm going to replace it with.

I think they farked up on the drilling, as it takes 1/8x1/4" line to seal the hole.............and that line has an ID that is too big for a good fit on the carb barb.  Right now I have a piece of line on there with a clamp (made from a 'donut' cut from a piece of 1/8x1/4 line) on the barb end.

I use .080" x. 140" for the feed line on poulans of this type. I don't know if this is an odd ball size but it always works with no leaks.  It fits the feed lines on a lot of cheaper weed eaters as well.

Kevin I have done a few of these and I always use Tygon 4040-A.    It is little bit of a tight fit thru the hole but if you cut a long taper on the end and get it fished thru then it will pull thru easily.
This is what I use on my 265 and wild things.   On the other end where the fuel filter is attached  I spread it with a small pair of needle nose pliers to get the fuel filter on.

That is what I use Tygon and how I feed through too.

My small line must be smaller then .080 x .140 if there is one smaller because it isnt going to fit a filter and not tight in hole IMO.

What size you using for the small line Roger?

I am guessing I have just run out of what I used in past because I have done many saws with the small line.   Just got caught in between lines at the moment and cant figure out what I was using.

Think I will order some of the .080 .140 and the 1/16 1/8 to check out to see what I was using before.

We have a winner.  I thought self why not go to the blasted IPL and look up the small fuel line. Then search the part number to see the correct OEM size.

530069247    =    .140" (3.56mm) OD X .080" (2.03mm) POULAN OEM 530069247 FUEL LINE

I must be out of that one because I know I used it in the past.

I looked for a size on that tubing and did not see one.   I am going to have to get that from where I work next time I am in there.
