unknown Poulan
« on: February 09, 2016, 06:07:09 am »
Scored a nice poulan tonight found on local facebook buy swap sell for 50 bucks says good runner but no further use. So popped on it for 45 and went to get it going from the pic I thought it would be another 20 50 or similar .Wrong has an 18 inch bar full 3/8 chain nice clean saw owners have no further use for it. I cant find a model number on it but  a sticker on the rear of the air cleaner box has type two  then 1L088L378 was using a torch to check it over as its late. I stopped on the way home it fired up quickly seemed low on compression when cranking but cut really well. Anybody have any ideas where I should be looking for model numbers This will be a keeper for firewood but I would like to know what I have. will try get some pics up tomorrow

It has poulan weedeater on the same sticker and has the metal toggle on off switch on the top of the handle

cruised through cscf library and it is similar to the 3500

Sounds odd- I'm pretty sure that frame of Poulan all came with .325 setups. Hearing the Type 2 has me thinking it is one of the 54ccer's - 3300 if it looks exactly like the 3500. If the air filter cover is different than the 3500 it's probably a 3450. The only way to really tell with no decals is pull the cylinder and measure the bore.  The 54cc's are  1.830".

Look like this? Wider cc and wider air filter cover.

Type 2 first post on a 3500

Between 2700 2800 3000 3300 by cylinder, air filter cover.

Type 2, like chipsflyin said might clue it in to which.

Going by 530-037277 = still looking up.

Type 3 3300 is 530-037686

We might be able to eliminate the 2700 and 3000.  The 2800 and 3300  Forester did not have the model number on the recoil side, just the clutch side. What ever saw that it may be. Every one in that frame are great saws.

Thanks guys for the assist I like it and tomorrow after work its going to work on a 6x4 caged  trailer load of cypruss pine mate has sold his property and I have a month to cut and take what I want I normally dont cut during summer but over the last week we have had heavy rains so the undergrowth is damp I am working under the canopy so friend considers it safe (bring the extinguisher anyway)

Have not seen any other pics with the nut bolt assy showing on the clutch housing (possible repair) chainbrake works well
