Well took it out for a run 3 or 4 minutes of good cutting then it died like out of fuel and wouldn't start again so went through 3 other oldies before I got one running, my own fault they have been layed up over summer and I didn't try them before going out . Every now and then would give the poulan a crank could get a fire  and sometimes a short burst of song but refused to continue running. I drained the fuel before using it as I was worried the PO may have filled it with straight gas as she offered me fuel but it was in a lawnmower can next to a briggs mower.I refueled with 32.1 mix so sometime over the weekend I will pull the covers and have a look and see what I have stuffed up any clues. But when it was running it felt good Mind you I do 90 percent of my cutting with a 10 series mac of one sort or the other

I agree with Tractorsaw. A few minutes of running is just enough to break a hard brittle fuel or impulse line. I went through a Poulan in that style a few years ago and forgot to plug on the impulse line to the case. Would get a blurp here and there but no run- Darn if I did not try to start that thing for 15 min before I figured out what was wrong.   If the impulse is not working the fuel pump diaphragm is not being actuated = no fuel flowing through the carb.

Yes will  get the covers off today pulls over smoothly this morning and I can get the bluuuuuurp but no run the bonus was after cutting my load of wood my mate chucked another saw into the boot ?trunk of my car an 017 stihl dusty but complete and in good order he has no use for it and was going to chuck it into a skip if I didn't want it. This guy is great I have had free firewood for over ten years and he thanks me for cleaning up I am the one that is gratefull. I have traded trailer loads of wood at times for a saw best deal in my eyes was a partner s65 a hard running machine and one I enjoy running. But as my body deteriorates I need to get me some lighter modern stuff and just bring the collectables out to play . so TYgon is good for impulse on these as well as for the fuel line

Tygon is not the best but works in a pinch. Had it on saws that was still using it after 5 years and still have some running it.

But on another note. There is better. I been switching to the black Echo line.

Ok had a few minutes today in between clearing all my swapmeet stock away from under the verandah and carport I was sick of looking at my mess, Anyway grabbed the saw removed the covers and yes I could see a shiny stub of metal tubing shining away and next to it a loose line so Spot on guys impulse line had come adrift. When I get time later in the week I will get to it looks like the carb needs to come off to get to it (correct me if I'M wrong) Have tygon on hand so will use it for now but will look for the black echo line I have a couple of echos with melted fuel lines Looks like black ooze in the bottom of the tanks. It will have to be an online purchase somewhere here in Oz as postage by a lot of sites from the USA is BS some guys are great but some sellers**************** thanks for the sizes kevin thanks everyone for the input on this and I will let you know how it goes, But I found 3 more unidentified poulan carcases in my shed while cleaning up more pictures to come

Dont need to pull carb to run new impulse line.
I just remove recoil on side to get to impulse nipple on crankcase or cylinder.  Use long forceps. Feed through hole under carb first. Then cc or c then around and up on carb.

If you got a good fit, I have ran them without the clips.
