What's with the Wild Thing's popularity?
« on: September 15, 2013, 03:45:46 pm »
I like the black/purple over the green/purple color scheme. I realize color is just a cosmetic thing. I don't get why they're so popular. Are they any different than the rest of the modern Poulans?

BTW, is Poulan still having reliability issues like they did 10 years ago? I'm not trying to bash Poulan. I have a S25CVA sitting next to me right now.

Most of the time IMO it is the owners with no knowledge of saw maintenance or tuning, killing the saws, not the saws fault.

All makers make good and crap saws IMO.

That's it in a nutshell.  Didn't help that Poulan used really crappy fuel line on them though.  Their stuff is quite vulnerable to the effect of ethanol and general neglect.  With a change of lines and a proper tune, these saws are extremely durable and give great service for the investment.  The purple/green WT theme doesn't do a thing for me...........but that's easily changed.

My next door neighbor's friend recently purchased a Wood Shark. I told him to tune the carb and get a non-safety chain for it.

Don't be mad Kevin.  I still give you an A+ for fantastic effort and execution. :D

The worst were the early 2375 WT's (although that's my favorite design of the WT series from a functional/mechanical standpoint).  They were a much lighter/brighter yellow, with an OBNOXIOUS purple (and decals).  First step when getting one of those is to swap the guts into a green, red, or grey Craftsman body, or into a 'normal' green or PP yellow Poulan branded chassis.
