What model is this Poulan Chainsaw?
« on: December 01, 2012, 09:06:16 pm »
I thought it was a 3700 but the starter pulley is different compared to the ones on the 3400/3700 counter vibe thats on ebay. This saw needs starter pulley.

My pulley looks like the top pic in reply post #3. Except the tabs are broken or worn off. I'll post pics of it tomorrow. I could be wrong.

That pulley is the rarer one and NLA. You might need to switch.  It's like that 1st pic in that other thread I posted.

Mark modfiedmark, Mike rsmoperman, 3000 FPS might share even more info. I am still learning these models.

Very 1st pic and post.

Your probably better off like Scott said and change the 3700 over to the other pulley and flywheel. The 3700 was only made about 3 years and the 2 pin pulleys are hard to find.

Do you know the part numbers to change it over.  I hope the bearings are still available. Got like 1/8 inch end play when pulling on the flywheel.

Side to side play like in back and forth  or up and down?  Up and down no good. Lot of my poulans have side to side play.

My understanding is you have to change your flywheel to run the other pulley or at least change the starter dawgs on flywheel.

Here is my extra set I dont need if interested. Only 1 of the 6 notches are buggered on the plastic pulley.

Its side to side play like pushing it through the other side and pulling it back through the flywheel side.

Does it matter what type number to use when ordering the flywheel and pulley?
