If I am wrong on this model, please straighten me out and say so please. But I think side to side play is pretty normal on these.

3000 FPS ??

Sent you a PM on my parts in pics if you are interested.  Put 3400 flywheel on and then just use the complete 3400 recoil in pic and you will be ready to cut.

I dont know on the side to side play. I do know it move side to side on lits own when tipped over either direction while carrying it. Do I need knock off tool to break the flywheel loose after the nut is removed?

Looking at my old poulan 4000 pulley and flywheel. Flywheel looks like same as on your 3700 with those starter dawgs. Maybe you could find a 4000 type pulley in my pic below to put in yours. Anyone out there tried that?

Whats longer bar to you. 24 ?

Ohiogregg and those other guys would have to answer that.

I know my 4000 could pull longer bars with no problems IMO with the torque those saws have. But I never did.

A  24inch is long enough for now. The Oregon book says I can use up to 28in and 32in if its 4000 model. My has support bracket under it to help support the weight of a long bar. I guess that is what that bracket is for? The saw doesnt sit level cause of that bracket.

It has a the rarer NLA 3700 recoil pulley.  Has 3700 muffler by looking at pic.

My 4000 was thin ring piston with chrome bore. Look at your piston see if you got thick rings, thin rings, chromed piston or bare aluminum piston.

Who knows what all has been swapped around over the years.  Seem what your bore measures

I got 2 thin piston rings. The piston looks like its shiny aluminum. The cylinder looks nice and shiny. Looks like there's some kinda glaze on the piston and cylinder. Maybe someone put few drops of motor oil in the cylinder to keep it lubed from locking up or something. The muffler comes apart in 4 pieces. Remove 2 outside bolts, remove cover, remove spacer on inside on muffler, then remove2 more bolts on the inside on the muffler to remove back half of muffler housing that touches the cylinder. So I know the carb will need rebuilt from sitting. I bought this saw not running.  Also bought homelite 360 and older mcculloch for $5 each.
