My first saw was a micro super XXV deluxe 33cc 14". Bought new from Lowes in Richmond KY $136.39 Oct 1980. Still have it, runs like a top, put one carb kit in it since new and a few chains. It does not see as much service since I "spread it around" among the fleet.
2 years ago I moved and a year ago I got a wood stove at the new place and I dragged the old saw out... since then, saws have been showing up and most of them I have gotten to run and are functional.

I can across this picture .It's really my second Poulan  whatever model it is ? 2 bucks at an auction with a new Stihl pico chain ,not bad .

I used this little rascal as my climber until I got the Stihl Ms 200T's and it didn't do bad at all .

Al that saw's a Poulan XX (20).  Can't tell from the pic whether it's orange and Dayton or Wizard/Western Auto branded.............or red  and Craftsman branded.  I have a Craftsman 1.9, which is the same as a Poulan XX-D (20D).  It was the first Poulan I owned.  Ran and worked on many Poulan and Craftsman branded Micro series, XXV series, and 2500 series Poulans before that.

Now I have a mess of Poulans.  Got that Craftsman 1.9, a Craftsman 2.1A branded 25DA (thanks Mark), a few S25-CVA's, two late production Poulan Pro S25AV's, a late electronic ign 306A, a Dayton branded 245SA, a Craftsman 2.0-14 branded 2000, a Craftsman 3.4 branded 3400 (that I'm rebuilding), a green 3400, and most recently a PP330....................plus some parts saws.  More Poulans may be on the way to me shortly...

When I was given my Craftsman 1.9 (by a Homelite nut friend), I wanted nothing to do with Poulans......having worked on hundreds of 'lunchbox' weedwackers and blowers, and other Poulan models that I grew to despise.   Friends on the net got me hooked on the old Poulans........and then the 'modern' ones such as my PP330.  You guys that are responsible for my Poulan addiction know who you are! ;D

I had a 3000 that was a decent saw for a weekend warrior like me. At least until it and a 12 drawer tool box disappeared during a move.  >:(

I love the 3000 305 and bigger brother 335

Go to the stolen sub forum at the bottom to learn a trick on the cheap to help alert you to someone in the barn or garage. Only works if you are home though.  link   http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/war-room/cheap-security-for-shop-truck-driveway/

Thanks Roger.  I just seem to have a head for gathering/retaining 'useless' info.  When I was in HS it was everything to do with motorcycles, old trucks and muscle cars.  Later it was firearms and reloading.   Can't remember 'important' stuff like my own name half the time however..... ???

I was into old Homelites long before the Poulans and the Macs because of my old rancher buddy.  He's not on the net, and has been running a firewood business off and on since 1969 or so and only runs old Homelites.  He's the guy that gave me that little XXD when it came to him in a batch of saws.

My experience working on Poulan's "not so great" machines (everybody has duds...) at Sears service soured me on the brand for quite a while.  Heck, it took a while for me to even get into the Homelites as I wanted NOTHING to do with working on OPE after my time working at Sears.  I had that XXD as my only Poulan for over a decade without getting another.  Modified Mark, Mike the Mopar guy, and others helped me get over that hangup and get into the Poulans bigtime.  It's their fault! ;D

I'll post up some pics in a bit.  Much of my 'collection' consists of 'before' or 'works in progress' saws...
