6 cubic inch V8 engine
« on: February 01, 2014, 12:40:18 pm »
The Conley V8 engine. This is somewhere around the 4th generation? He used to claim it was a miniature Chevy V8. There was a fire at the foundry and all the earlier patterns burned up. So he started out from scratch. I seen and talked with him maybe a dozen times. These engines are out of my reach as this engine with the supercharger is $11,000 and change. If you want to see the engine and watch it run, he has an example at the Toledo Hobby Expo every year in early April.

Here's a guy with one in a homemade  "Grave Digger" that he is trying to get set up. Watch the video enough to here the fabulous sound.

Here it is tuned a little better. The engine has a couple Walbro carbs. Tends to have the top end a little lean

1/4" scale R/C . The engine, blower, and centrifugal clutch that looks like a transmission weighs around 12 pounds whereas the complete Grave Digger car set up was closer to 90 pounds.

Now if the creator of the engine would turn his talents toward a Rolls Merlin for quarter scale aircraft that would be amazing in a plane!!!
