Redmax 5000 ported work saw I traded for and since I have never ran a stock redmax 5000.

Old Iron Logging how do these compare when ran stock to the 152 346 261 260 026 246 and any others in 3 cube size saws you have ran stock.

Here is how they run here. These are not set to factory specs, they are set where they work best. 260 at factory specs would be down the list further. When I get time on the 261 it should be at the top.

026 German
260 German
346 OE
5000 Redmax
5100
152
5000P
246

Forgot about adding the Partner 5000 and Dolmar 5100 to the list of stock saws.  Just curious.

Other than the 246, there would only be a second between the saws. I prefer high rpm over torque.
I don't block firewood with 50cc saws.

I can understand rpm and  what you were after by running that EHP redmax 5000 from you.

Had to be a good limbing and what ever you call pulp saw? Can you describe that so I know, pulp saw? guessing 6" 8" tree and a lot of falling and limbing.

Pulp saw is light and fast. I cut random length 10-16 feet. Take them down to a 2" top. Small logs go down to 3" top. Will take the camera in and get pics and video when it warms up. Hard to explain unless you know what is left for timber here.

Around these parts pulp wood is soft wood, mainly poplar and spruce, that ends up getting cut in order to skid the $$ wood out.   Its the easy grabs for a few extra dollars.
Just for fun (and a good deal at baileys 15" Carleton Sprocket Nose for $3.90!) I ran it on my 372 with an 8 pin rim...............a very nice set up for pulp wood at the landing.............

All of our local big mills have shut down (within 270km) so pulp in down to $11/ton and logs (thankfully there are some small mills still operating) $27-42 dependant upon the mill.  So very rough times for those that can't adapt.  I think the biggest and most profitable option in to outlast the unemplyed cutting a few loads of firewood till he finds his next job, and be the one that always has wood available, goind rate for a single here in town delivered and split is $60.........and hours away in Ottawa $150-200!

Man I thought it was bad here. 3 years ago we were $95/ton on logs. We have 1 mill left, 280 km away.

What were you running for chain in that video? 3/8 or .325? What rpm?

Here it liked .325 and 15,500 rpm for work.

I have only been running 3/8 and with heat shield on the front and that was working rpm. I cant remember what it was that day in video. Didn't sound right on video.

That redmax actually out cut my best P-5000 at my last ohio gtg I had,  taken 2nd behind a gas race saw 590 in yellow and red. No heat shield and close to 17K  ;) in race set up.

Do you still have the 5000?

Yes and it is still in good company. Setting right beside the hottest woods ported WORK saw OE 346xp 45cc with domed piston etc from back in the day before the NE. No hot Partner's left, just stock ones now. Getting ready to try a different woods ported topend on a 026 too.  Just love this size of saws.  ;D

It's not like I have to keep it with all the others around, but I really do like that saw size.

Twist my arm hard enough and I could let go.  PM me and let me know whats up ok.

Art / old iron logging, do you remember how many tanks you had put through this redmax 5000 before we traded?

Me and a friend was talking about this redmax yesterday while I was working on his 268xp. He  :-X likes and wants.   :-\
