65cc stock saw testing 10x10 cuts
« on: July 25, 2014, 12:53:28 pm »
So which saw will be the fastest in the cut 12x12 with same chain on all saws?

Been working with Dex and 660mag on setting up a 65cc testing in Dex's left over 12x12 cant.  solo 665 - dolmar makita 6400 6401 - husky 365 special - poulan 415 - echo 6700 for comparison.

I got the 415 closed port, 6700 never had cylinder off but thinking closed port, 660mag has a like new still 365 sp closed port. Dex has the 665 closed port and 6401 open port.

The solo poulan and husky I know still have stock mufflers. The 6700 has been open alittle on the oem side where it exits.

So which saw and config do you think will be the fastest in a 12x12 timed cuts?

Trying to remember this right.

solo 665 has  47mm bore   x 38mm stroke

dolmar makita  47mm bore x 37mm stroke

husky 48mm bore x 36mm stroke

poulan 48mm bore  x 36mm stroke

echo  I have no clue on bore stroke off hand or actual PHO weight. Paper specs say 13.9lb

I'm thinking it will too.  But with 7T.

Jim was going to ride up with me.

You still got the 12x12 cant?

I'm going to say the saw with the longest stroke will win. But man, Kevin's 415 impressed the crap out of me...

I have zero experience with the Echo but I hear good things about them.
I do know that Echo has been making a LOT better performing saws recently.
The Husqvarna is toast. A decent Dolmar 6400 will spank them with amazing regularity.
The Solo, being basically the same saw as the Dolmar with a longer stroke should handle the Dolmar and naturally the Husky.

I've cut with Kevin's Poulan Pro 415, and with the POSSIBLE exception of the Echo, nothing on that list will cut with it!
The others would have a much better chance against my 415 (which is a great running saw) but Kevin's 415 put mine back in the truck in short order.
