Thanks Kevin. I like these quality rebadges, though it may be tough to find this one at this date. It'll be fun to look for though, along with the Lesco and the Bailey's B51 that May have been a Solo. I don't know the model number for the Lesco. I'm going to look for the Solo 654 rebadged Homelite 54 too.

i bought the 651 from a local dealer a couple of years ago and made the mistake of lending it out to a good friend. :( lost a very good saw that

he liked it so much he bought it off me and bought the 656 a week later ;D
those saws are still running excelent today. only one oiler gear for the 656 has had to be replaced as of today :)

Hi Steve,
Any idea how close the Homelite 54 (340) is to the Solo 656 I've got one coming.  I have a Hommie 47 which is a good little runner, by Solo as well.

I know this is an old thread. Just wanted to say those older rebadged Solos still pop up now and then. In the past year, I've picked up both a Craftsman version of the 651, like the green one Cut4Fun posted, and a Homelite 340 (Solo 654). Now the trick may be to get the parts to get them running again. I didn't pay a whole lot for either. Neither owner had any idea they were made by Solo. Don't think they had ever heard of Solo ;)

I have 3 Homelite 54 (340) and they don't seem to any more power than the 47 despite being 6cc larger engine.  They use the same carb so that may be a limiting factor.  I might be able to make two runners out of the 3 I have.  Recently sold the 47, went for $95  only paid $25 so that worked for me.  They all have chain brakes which reflects the fact that they are somewhat newer. last ditch effort to compete I guess.
