Solo 650 - carburetor replacement option
« on: December 31, 2020, 07:57:25 pm »
Hi,

I have a Solo 650 chainsaw with a Walbro 21-245 9-7 carburetor that I was looking to get an affordable replacement unit from Amazo to get the saw running. Instead of a rebuild was going to see if there was a replacement option. Thank you in advance.

Attached is an image of the current carb.

Wonder if a carburetor from a husqvarna 350 chainsaw would work on the Solo 650?

Havent looked into it before.

But a rebuild kit is less then 10 bucks most times and takes about 30mins.   I'd be digging into that carb first. Just to simple to rebuild.

Is this the carb? Solo 639 645 650 Chainsaw Walbro  HDA126 HDA127A HDA170A = Carb Kit  K22-HDA

I ordered a rebuild kit. I gave the current one a good cleaning and it seems it's in decent shape. Removed the metering valve and gave everything a good cleaning. Hard to tell if any ports clogged. New fuel filter, cleaned carb old gaskets, new decompression valve, and when I put the spark tester between the plug I get a decent light pulse. I can see the fuel flow when the plunger is pressed, just it seems nothing going in the throttle. I poured a small amount of gas into the throttle blade port and it seems like it whats to turn over then it dies, does not last long. Maybe the carb kit will help unless there are some other ideas. I don't have a compression tester, however, when the decompression valve is on hard pulls so feels like high compression. FYI - this is why I thought it would be easier to try an Amazon carb special that would fit and replace the original model. Thank you!
