Anyone got solo 680 piston specs.

There is a guy talking to OP and me saying he used a 272 piston in a 680.

I believe I tried one and it was too short. The exhaust would free port. Bore size is the same but skirt was too short if I remember right.

Thanks.  His pics were showing the 272 skirts being short but I was wondering.  I would guess it is a solo 680 piston on right?  I never seen one to know.

So the 272 will not work due to the shorter skirt is that correct?? And am I reading this right that a Stihl 046 piston will work only thing is the pin bosses need to be filled back to accomodate top of crank??

Thanks guys

Also does it matter if the replacement piston I choose has 2 x piston rings or only 1?? Obviously solo has 2 rings but would there be any problems using a piston that only has 1, as I would assume solo engineers gave the piston 2 rings for a reason....

Not to me. I have used 1 in 2 and 2 in ones that came with 1.

@adam32 what do you think of the BB372 piston being used in a stock 680?   I used a BB372 in a 475 because it was drop in. Now if hot ported or race I would want the better OEM 064 or meteor piston.

The 475 is windowed and I used the non-windowed bb372 and she runs great stock.

Yeah I'm leaning towards using the BB372, but am now worried a bit by the skirt difference in length. Would this create any dramas??
