Where are you getting them from. Sounds like they work well. Have a few cylinders I could try it out on.

Got mine from pmd or something like that on amazon. baileys sell them too and even as a set. But I refuse to buy anything from them.

;) I fired Baileys also for various reasons.Ball hones aren't that hard to find though .However keep in mind they won't round out or remove taper .Only a precision hone will do that .Then again most saw cylinders are plated and it's really a moot point .

Just want to show what a difference finishing touch of cross hatching does. ;)

First 2 pics.
Here is cleaned up by hand with emery cloth and flapper wheel.  See how you can still see the scuff area. But it is smooth as can be to go across it with fingernail or finger or whatever you want to use.

Then the next 2 pics are after the final step with ball hone  used for crosshatch.    :P

Any you guys using the SC ones?  They sent me a 240SC instead of the 240AO 57mm one.

The 046 D cylinder

Showing crosshatching to deglaze. Could run just like it is. But I like fresh crosshatch with new rings.

Before and after
