Info for those wanting to put 1/4" chain on their 200T etc. 

$38 stihl ms 200t 020t 1/4 pitch 8 tooth clutch carving drum SPUR sprocket and oil pump gear new oem 11290071002

Nice looking site ya got here.   :)  thanks for the info. I put the order in at tye dealer and we'll see what happens.  They were showing not available for us but put the order in and said lets see if it shows up.

I was over at the local Stihl dealer today and saw a printout on his desk that Stihl is now selling a .043 1/4" chain now. No picture but info sounds like it's got lots of safety links.
Not sure what the market is intended for......consumer saws?? The Stihl .050 1/4 pitch chain [ darn good chain BTW] was basically reserved for the carvers.

As history goes the Oregon 3/8 LoPro 91 series and Stihl  Picco sawchain replaced the 1/4 for consumer saw use as a manufacturing cost reduction. It cost more to make and assemble a sawchain with more pieces per foot, that's why the extended pitch 3/8 was introduced back in the mid 1970s. The Picco in 1979.
Stihl must have figured a way to get around that and now have a lightweight .043 1/4" chain to add to their lineup.
