026 verses 026pro
« on: January 12, 2013, 07:08:20 pm »
I bought two 026's the other day one runs great, the other has a scored cylinder, I pulled the cylinder and cleaned the saw and now was looking to order a new P&C what would you guys use 44 mm or 44.7mm. I'm new to these 026's I noticed that there is a difference in the air cleaner  cover from the 026 and 026 pro, I was thinking about putting a 44.7 mm cylinder and 026 pro plastic and was hoping someone could tell me if this will work or not? like I said this is my first experience with the 026, But the little bit i ran it the other day, I really like it, it'll be a nice little saw around the farm for trimming fence rows.

I started a topic about the difference in the piston and cylinder sizes.

Thanks for the info, think i'm gonna go with the 44 mm. I cleaned my cylinder up it doesn't look to bad, but there's a really small chip out of the chrome. so i'm not gonna chance it.
Does anyone Know who i can get to port my new cylinder?  I have an 026 with 18" .325 B&C that works Great. the saw I'm working on I wold like to experiment with porting and put a 16" 3/8 B&C. Thanks for the help
Northwood Saw has a Piston & Cylinder kit  $139.00 (made in Italy) would this be a meteor kit?

Is there scoring on the cylinder above the exhaust port or is it just aluminum transfer from the piston? If its just alum transfer, you can clean that up with muratic acid and emery cloth. Save the cylinder and just buy a new meteor piston. Got any pics?

I cleaned off the aluminum with acid, there is a small chip in the chrome, surprisingly down low (lower right side of intake port) I'll try to post a picture.

I cant see the pic very well. If there is no scoring above the exhaust port and there is no risk of a ring snagging on that chip. I would reuse that cylinder. Your compression starts above the exhaust port. JMO

The Walbro WT 194 is the best carb for the 026. It has adjustable H&L.

The Walbro WT194, though the best carb for the 026, is not a Intellicarb.

However, you can swap the metering diaphragm cover from your intellicarb, if you have one,  - to your WT-194.

I choose to leave my WT-194 alone and put a yellow foam ear plug in the intellicarb hole in the air filter.
We should share what we know... someone may learn...

You could  unhook the little tube too and let the carb breathe on it's own .The only draw back would be the diaphragm cover might  fill full of dust faster . Well then too it probabley wouldn't  be any worse of a stiffle than  the air filter plugging up and doing the same thing .You'd know though no doubt .

You know come to think about it if the engine got to starving for air from a plugged filter  it would actually take a partial suction on the diaphragm if the tube was attached .

Now if the carb could breathe then starving for air all the saw would do is run rich with a plugged air filter .So why in the world did they do that intella thing in the first place .Because people don't check the filter maybe ?Now just maybe it was to apease the EPA from causing a rich running saw on occasion .It remains an unanswered question ,a conudrum so to speak .
