Stihl 028 AV super Wood Boss
« on: November 03, 2021, 11:27:57 am »
Greetings.  I bought this chainsaw new in 1987 and it's been great.  Recently the spur gear on the chain sprocket broke apart and also destroyed some of the teeth on the oil pump gear.  I see so many part numbers for these 2 gears I'm not sure exactly which ones they are.  My local Stihl dealer says the parts are not available.  Is anyone aware of replacement parts I could use?  Maybe something from Oregon parts.  I'm thinking I could buy the replacement spur gear and chain sprocket along with a new oil pump and gear if need be just they all mesh correctly.

It would help if you could post some pictures of what you have at this time.   There could be some variations according to the year your saw was made.

I have pics on my phone but not sure how to attach them.  The spur gear is gone so not much to see.

Need to see what setup you have for the oiler.    What gears are there and what is broken.

The spur gear was fragmented and came out in small pieces.  The oil pump gear is still on the oil pump worm gear but has several teeth missing.  It has part number 1119 647 1800 on it.  Hope that helps.
