028 av super?
« on: October 23, 2013, 08:39:26 pm »
I have heard a lot of people say good stuff about this model from Stihl. Found a used one that looks like it's in great shape for $150. Thinking about grabbing it but wanted some opinions before going to look at it...few hour drive from me. Thoughts? Maybe a project saw for some fun or just another firewood saw? Appreciate it!

Those are very nice saws. Several of my customers swear by them.

It's solidly  built reliable in somewhat of old school robustness .Belonging to the 028,three models of 038 ,042 and 048 design .

Fact I have some model in the shed ,farm boss, wood boss whatever .When I find the time I'll add a little soup to it .A little not a lot .It's a firewood cutter not a hotsaw .

Little info on a 028 super I took in trade.  I knew nothing about them so I ask the folks here.  http://chainsawrepair.createaforum.com/stihl/stihl-028-super/

Thanks for the replies and the link. Going to think it over for a week and see. Just ordered parts for my Jonny 490 which I have been meaning to get to for about a year now. ::) May not need it but it is really clean, looks like it was almost new.
