It was 4 stroking one day when i was in a big log. Cleaned the air filter and it ran better but just thought i would check it with a tach

How old is the saw? I would back the screw back out to the basic setting. Have you messed with the low speed screw any. I wonder if the are dependant on each other. Try to lean out the low speed some and see if your high speed comes up. I have done that on some older saws to get the high speed set right.
