I didn't adjust the points. I never took the points set off the saw , just pulled a piece of sandpaper through the points. Hopefully I'll get the parts saw and swap the coil.

It's alive................... Finally got the coil from the parts saw. It turns out that my friend had an 029 parts saw and not the 028. Well ,I put the coil in and it fired right up and it  ran great , adjusted the carb and cut into a 12" log. It ran through the log in seconds. Thanks for all the help and info.

I had the 028 WB out yesterday to start cutting some dead standing to supplement the wood we already have for the syrup evaporator.  We will be making maple syrup if the weather ever starts to  break , 1 1/2 feet of snow still on the ground , but at least it has a hard crust on it so you don't sink in.
Boy I love this saw, starts easy , not very loud , just a sweet running saw.  I need to hold myself back on it because it doesn't have the grunt my 041 FB has ,just part of the learning curve.
