Yes the 290 coil will work on your 028 as long as it has an aluminum flywheel. One terminal is for ground and the other for ignition. Yellow  is usually ground and black is ignition. The wires are used to kill the spark when you want to turn the saw off. The spade goes to the coil and round goes to ground.
