028 Super value?
« on: August 02, 2013, 09:56:00 pm »
Gonna go look at an 028 Super tomorrow.  Supposedly a runner is all I know.  What are they worth?  They are asking $100.  Seems like a $200. saw if it's nice?

$100 is OK if it runs good and looks nice

Thanks guys.  I already have a sweet 026 that is a known quantity for a personal 3 cube saw so I would just be snagging this one to play with a7 make a buck on.  Sounds like it better be pretty nice or I'll pass.

So whatis the cc on the 028Super?  The spec sheet at Bills saw Shop says 51.4cc, someone on ebay is saying 57cc...

An 028 super is 51.4cc's to be exact. Here is a decent reference table I like to go by http://www.getsaws.com/S_specs.html

Here is one for the Husky's http://www.getsaws.com/H_specs.html

These table's are not gospel, but a decent reference.

That's the same resource I usually use, but every once in a while there is a mistake so I thought I'd check.  Though it lacks about 2.5cc  in displacement for 2# difference in weight I think I really like my 026 all the more!
I didn't go look at the 028 Super yet.  My only interest in picking it up is to make a buck on it.  The actual owner is out of town till Monday.  It is at his moms house (he just moved in with her) & she was handling phone calls till he gets home.  Maybe look Monday when I can talk to him  & take $75 with me.

I just serviced one myself with a good thorough cleaning, new fuel line, impulse line, filter, clutch drum and rim, sharpened the chain, eliminated the base gasket, and modded the muffler. It was just a woodboss and needless to say, I was pretty impressed when i was finished. It really ran and cut well. A lot better than an 029 i recently did the same treatment to. In my opinion it would run right with an 026 but just a tad heavier. $75.....I would buy em all day long for that! ;)
